I have read those posts as well and there is no indication of a potential buyer. What would they be buying? A discovery well needs to have many development wells to establish a field - how big is it? ConocoPhillips Alaska is a subsidiary of ConocoPhillips Global. They are a stand alone company and have an annual budget. They have 5-years worth of infield development producing wells that they can drill. They are the largest operator on the North Slope and have multiple Exploration projects sitting idle due to budget constraints. I doubt they would even try to buy -- doesn't add value at the moment. It would have to be someone else. In the meanwhile, if a discovery is made, how long until a pipeline comes into the area -- never for one well.
