It's always been the case. Only now in last couple months seems it's 10x's that ever since the one hedge fund was shorting gme but got burned by retail piling on pushing sp thru the roof. Otc was on fire prior to gme. Eventually the penny run was gonna end but did so prematurely imo. This is payback by hedgies and their minion mm's.
