Your point is well taken.

However, the number of authorized shares IS RELEVANT TO MANY INVESTORS given that the delta between AUTHORIZED SHARES and OUTSTANDING SHARES represents the number of shares which an unethical company could "DUMP" on the market, at any time, thereby causing (a) massive dilution on the spur of the moment; and (b) a significant drop in the pps.

I know many investors who could be scared away from a stock due to the existence of a significant difference between the number of AUTHORIZED shares and the number of OUTSTANDING shares.
