So, because you went to Columbia you know more than the MIT Registrars office about MITs own policies regarding confirmation of attendance to their university? I see..

Since you say the email from MIT is manufactured or faked I invite you to do two things.

#1: Contact MIT yourself to confirm/deny its authenticity.

#2: Report me for committing fraud.
