The only way that would be possible is if your broker is naked shorting shares or covering your shares that are held in the US DTC. Like I said 0 pre split shares have been released by DTC so if anyone claims they are trading old shares they are not. Even US Fidelity is not trading pre split shares the broker is covering the shares for its users because there are so few of them that trade OTC
