I know this topic has been discussed but I would guess those large funds (which have large amounts of funds $$$) have a few shares of hundreds of companies, just in case they need info to monitor different sectors. A way to keep a beat on the pulse. Similar to wealthy donors donating money to politicians of both parties. You never know who’s going to win & when you’re going to need a favor.
