#464 RE: Firebird400 #463

"How are common everyday folks ever going to be served by multi-millionaires?" Ken

Like any politician of any stripe is a common everyday folk. Almost all politicians are affluent. It is generally true that the average Republican constituent is affluent, and the Democrats' constituency contains a lot of lower socio-economic groups in addition to a a lot of affluent folks. However, when you look at fundraising, it is the Democrats who are more dependent on large contributions from the wealthy than are the Republicans.

In any event, I don't think either party has an altogether correct and effective philosophy. Perhaps that is why we seem to bounce back and forth under administrations by one party and the other.

My feeling is that politics is a lot like investing, we make our decisions on an emotional level and then use logic to rationalize a decision already made. When you analyze voting, you find that folks generally vote a lot like their neighnors, a lot like the folks they work with, a lot like the foks they hang out with. There are smart, decent, conscientious people all across the political spectrum. It's a shame that political rancor has caused such a divide in this country.
