wbmw, of course 802.11b is fast enough for the internet. Your usage does represent one type of user, but not other types. Here are some examples where Centrino's WiFi is insufficient:
1. LAN replacement for corporate departments. The tasks of high speed networking - manipulating data on servers, sharing bandwidth between multiple clients - just don't cut it on Centrino's WiFi. AMD laptops, which use 802.11g, work fine for this environment
2. Sharing large multimedia files. Athlon laptops will copy that file in 1/5 the amount of time as Centrino. Ever try copying a DVD movie between computers?
So please don't argue that Centrino works fine because it is faster than an internet connection. That misses the whole point.
