wbmw, of course 802.11b is fast enough for the internet. Your usage does represent one type of user, but not other types. Here are some examples where Centrino's WiFi is insufficient:

1. LAN replacement for corporate departments. The tasks of high speed networking - manipulating data on servers, sharing bandwidth between multiple clients - just don't cut it on Centrino's WiFi. AMD laptops, which use 802.11g, work fine for this environment

2. Sharing large multimedia files. Athlon laptops will copy that file in 1/5 the amount of time as Centrino. Ever try copying a DVD movie between computers?

So please don't argue that Centrino works fine because it is faster than an internet connection. That misses the whole point.

Just to be simple and clear
Pentium M - Very Good to Excellent
802.11b - Not so good, sucks in an office with a g-router available
Until it supports 802.11g, Centrino Sucks

Standing up for a sucky standard just because Intel is marketing it - priceless!
