Of course we don’t know about future variants. If current vaccines are not effective against a new variant, new vaccines will be developed and new trials will be needed. Same goes to therapeutics. The upcoming B trial is against COVID-19, not pan-coronavirus. IMO BPs will not invest billions in B just in case it’s effective against a new variant.
