Okay so you're Joe Investor. You look towards Fannie or Freddie and you see Uncle Sam with his hands around the necks of both GSEs. That glance has been the same from SEP 2008 to today, FEB 2021. Strangulation oftentimes is successful so why would you invest in stocks that may not survive the night? Uncle Sam sure as hell is not a law abiding citizen.
