They obviously need willing sellers and balanced volume to close out quickly, which is part of the reason you saw the pull back yesterday afternoon with some flippers glad to take profits while MM's covered.
You can tell MM's are hesitant today though, price jumping quickly which means MM's not willing to sell high volume shares at lower prices and are letting it jump instead. Also keeping the spread wide at times to reduce ask side buying
