It’s not always retail that shorts though ... many brokers or MMs do it too. I have been in a stock before trading basically a full naked share float because all real shares were locked up on a manual domicile change from Canada to US. Boy did that get interesting and fast. Would have kept going up to hit dollars had they not unlocked the shares and then those weak hand buyers under a penny started selling. Supply and demand it’s real.
