#343578 RE: Brinjal #343428

Thanks for posting the article. I agree with the substance of the article...that the emphasis on vaccines was disproportionate and neglected the treatment of patients sick with Covid19 and its complications.

Hopefully the new emphasis on Covid19 therapeutics will prove fruitful and result in treatments to help sick patients.

Brilacidin was identified in a drug screening searching for compounds effective against Covid19. It was found to be more effective than almost all of the 11,522 drugs screened . In addition it suggested a new mechanism of action, inhibition of the main protease which is critical in production of viral particles.

"Supportive of this, an in silico quantum mechanical molecular screening study of 11,522 compounds identified brilacidin as a potential inhibitor of SARS-CoV-2 based on the potential of its physico-chemical properties to interfere with the intracellular replication of SARS-CoV-2’s main protease (Mpro)"

I was unable to find a list of Drs Chandrs and Mittal's drugs which were screened. I would be grateful if you could post a link. It is of interest that the doctors work at a regional biodefense lab. Perhaps they were aware of Brilacidin's stellar results at the George Mason lab.

Obviously there is no reason to screen for something already discovered.
