BBC:

"The new more infectious variant has already spread widely across the UK.

Mr Johnson told a Downing Street briefing: "In addition to spreading more quickly, it also now appears that there is some evidence that the new variant - the variant that was first identified in London and the south east - may be associated with a higher degree of mortality.

"It's largely the impact of this new variant that means the NHS is under such intense pressure.""

“ A mutation that could allow Covid-19 to escape antibody protection has now been found in samples of a rapidly spreading strain in the UK, according to a report Monday by Public Health England.
The mutation, called E484K, was already part of the genetic signature of variants linked to South Africa and Brazil.
According to the PHE report, the mutation has been newly detected in at least 11 samples of the UK's B.1.1.7 strain. It also appears some of these samples may have acquired this mutation independently, instead of spreading from a single case.
This could mean a variant already known to be more transmissible also risks becoming somewhat resistant to the immune protection offered by vaccines, or more likely to cause reinfection among people who were previously infected, experts say.

This is why I in my opinion I believe that even though the government had the right idea about mass vaccinations to try and create a “herd immunity”, I believe our US government has failed us because they have not provided enough funding to companies like IPIX which has Brilacidin - A drug which has been verified (via the RBL GMU and PHRI Rutgers) as a possible treatment that will kill the virus via their In-Vitro testing assays that they conducted. When you have a drug that has the potential to kill the virus and stop it from replicating inside the patient which in turn stops the replication of the virus and or variance of the virus developing inside the infected individual, then Why the Heck has the government been dragging their feet getting Brilacidin out to the public for testing???? This whole politics because of Big Pharma lobbyists is why our country has been suffering from this potential plague for so long now with no end in sight. Just my honest opinion.
