Read both articles with wet eyes. Man talk about a rock and a hard place... for Paterno and the powers that be at PSU.

Paterno probably still believes he can pull off a winning season and doesn't want to leave on a losing note.

The powers that be cannot afford to alienate his fundraising talent.

What a mess. My heart goes out to Paterno but part of me can see where he is bringing this on himself... a little thing called ego perhaps. I somehow suspect that the more criticism he receives, the harder he will dig in. Truly sad situation.
