I think it’s definitely a good investment at current price. I originally bought them for the dividends. I think dividends are out now. They will most probably be redeemed and replaced at par by lower paying jps when Fannie reaches it’s Tier1 capital. If you agree, I would suggest you buy cheaper jps. The $50 par appear to be really cheap right now.

Don’t know your situation. I’m 68 and am using the jps as a hedge. I do believe that commons are worth over $200. Someone described them as a trans-generational investment. If you hold enough of them, they’ll ensure your decendends will be well off.
