I am not claiming that Google would end mozilla as open source. They wouldn't. But they would do their own modifications on the existing code. Heck, they might even ask mozilla to add certain features to their open sourced products in exchange for a chunk of cash. Google wouldn't profit from it being closed source, and they seem to recognize it.
