Welcome to iHub. I'm not sure I understand your question.
A quick search reveals that American Scientific Resources was started/founded in 1999 (?)
In 2020/2021, ASFX shares are (almost) worthless ... except as a possible tax loss to strategically offset a taxable gain. $$$$
If you're trying to help someone with confusion about "American Scientific" or "Scientific American" ....
try searching wikipedia for both of those terms.
Or, post up some more info here ...

You need to look for the stock certificates (paper) and find out the name of the company.

Ticker symbols get recycled. That company may have had ASFX in the 1960's, then when it got acquired, merged, or delisted, ASFX became an unused ticker symbol. Decades later, in 2003, when Vencap Capital Corp. changed their name to American Scientific Resources, Inc., they likely applied to change their ticker symbol to ASFX.
