"your conclusions?"
[1] Farley is a better trader in his sleep than I'll ever be wide awake;
[2] I think the gap you're concerned about is either a continuation gap or an exhaustion gap, i.e., but then it could also be a breakaway gap.
WARNING: WHAT FOLLOWS IS RAMPANT SPECULATION
I THINK that the question of what type of gap it is depends at least in part on the time frame in question. In addition, I THINK that a gap can be more than one type of gap at the same time, but in different time frames.
Example, a gap-up which comes 1/2 the way up the final spurt of a long-term move could be seen as a continuation gap in the medium term but an exhaustion gap in the LT time frame.
Does that make sense at all?
Finally, there is another entire set of issues here.
[1] Regardless of what kind of gap it is, will it fill?
[2] If it does fill, WHEN will it fill?
i. Will it get it done quickly; or,
ii. Will it hang out there like a storm cloud lingering on the horizon?
[3] If it doesn't do so soon, will it sit out there and nag at the back of your brain from now until doomsday? Admittedly, that's a low probability scenario. {g}
My answer to all of the above is:
I DON'T KNOW! {NG}
The best thing I can say is use stops, and tighten them as you go along.
Sorry. }:
