A post from Brad, being such an unusual, if not rare, occurence, is cause to examine not only its contents but its timing. of course, what he says in it is essentially the same thing we've been told before at the tech's inception, i.e., it will enable the teleco's to transmit voice, video, and data over the copper infrastructure. In repeating this, he now puts it in the framework of the telcos, themselves, voicing their keen anticipation of this forthcoming ( a little silent prayer here ) chip. Frankly, I believe, without knowing, that he is so hamstrung as to what he can legitimately say in public about the tech that, when he returns to his old haunts (the trade shows), he speaks with the prospective buyers
about it, and then uses their responses to communicate with us.
Frankly, I didn't get excited over this letter, which is a twice-told recounting of their response to Embarq - now with the emphasis of its triple-play possibilities. It's always good to hear from Brad, but this letter to us is shy of the mark
in its contents. What he told us, we already knew. It's nice to know that he was thinking of us by sending the letter, but no dollar bills fell out of the envelope when we opened it up. sigh. maybe next time...
