Schwab does own TDA, but they are moving fairly slowly on combining things operationally. They may continue to operate TDA separately (at least the customer facing bits while combining back-office operations) as TDA has considerable brand recognition.
While I do almost all my trading at Schwab, I do have a couple old TDA accounts and I have seen no correspondence at all about migrating them into Schwab.
. Who worry about 6.95 commission. It's a bid deal if you buy 1 share to maybe 100 shares. These companies don't work for nothing. One way or another you pay. And if you used broker it's 70 dollars or more ever time you use one.
