I stayed out of this because it mattered little to me, if they pursued spider silk. Spider silk has always been a marketing gimmick for them. They can use spider silk DNA, but then the performance results will always be poorer than a larger bio-factory, like the silkworm.

They can market this however they please. But they already are moving on to other proteins and that is likely partly why the switch in marketing lingo.
