While clearly not a panacea and somewhat at odds with at least one other study, investigators were enthused:

"Scientists are hopeful that it could be added to the armoury of treatments used to improve outcomes of the most critically ill patients, though they note that evidence on tocilizumab has been contradictory to date.

“We think these are very exciting results and we’re very encouraged by them,” said Professor Anthony Gordon, chair in anaesthesia and chief investigator on the study at Imperial College London. “It’s unlikely any drug will work on its own so we need to find the right combinations of treatments.”

For the avoidance of doubt, I don't think that vaccines will obviate the need for effective treatments for COVID 19, and I doubt that any molecule will be fully effective by itself.

In my naivete, I imagined the MB would be interested in other developments in the COVID 19 space.

For the further avoidance of doubt, I sincerely hope that brilacidin turns out to be the safe effective treatment for COVID 19 that many here are already convinced that it is.

But given both the track record of Leo Ehrlich who has repeatedly demonstrated that he is both a liar and incompetent, and the fact that the only results for any study officially recorded on clinicaltrials.gov show brilacidin to have a startling incidence of both SAEs and AEs even when given as an oral rinse, I'm not going to hold my breath.
