I agree that lockdowns does nothing more than create a more stressful environment for everyone involved. Many of the buildings and facilities that have seen spread are more than likely bing spread through the HVAC system / stairwell railings / elevators, and all public areas that are not cleaned thoroughly and constantly. Also, the HVAC filtration needs to be changed frequently and in a manner that when changing does not emit the virus.

"The nonmetro share of all confirmed U.S. COVID-19 cases grew from 3.6 percent on April 1 to 11.1 percent on September 1. ERS regularly produces research on rural America, including demographic changes in rural communities and drivers of rural economic performance. This chart appears in the ERS topic page, The COVID-19 Pandemic and Rural America, updated September 2020."

More than a decade and a half ago, in another life, I was concerned with transmission of viral diseases (from a bioterror not a pubic health perspective). There was a classic study showing folks in a hospital getting sick a few rooms down from an infected patient -- hvac issues with a virus, forget which it was. Since then, most hospitals have curtailed hvac systems that go room to room, I assume nursing homes have too, but they are often privately owned and seem to care more about profits than patients, imo.
