As someone who is in the world of green energy technology, I can tell you that most govt/UN/etc initiatives are generally pie in the sky nonsense, not to be dismissive of your point.
But simply put, there is no such thing and there never will be a 100% green energy world.
No amount of solar panels or lithium in batteries can supplant industries where high temperatures are needed such as cement production, iron smelting, glass production, asphalt, the list goes on.
Yes, there are arc furnaces which could use "electricity only" in some of these industries but it's never going to be a one size fits all solution.
Furthermore, even if we said all industries except the ones listed above will go 100% green, then that suggests there's enough germanium on the planet for solar voltaic cells and enough lithium for lithium ion batteries to achieve such a large scale lofty goal.
Even Elon Musk has voiced concerns about his self driving trucking fleet he plans to sell stating that there currently is not enough lithium of known reserves available for every semi in the United States to go electric much less the world.
Then there's the question of the environmental impact of germanium and lithium mining taking place in South America as rainforests are decimated.
Ideally, what we need are batteries as good as lithium ones but with more common elements utilized with a lesser impact on the environment when mining for them. We're still talking years and years out there.
