I agree that shallow, "click bait" style journalism is a problem.

I am also troubled by the knee-jerk, anti-mining sentiment that many on the left have while enjoying the resulting benefits of what comes out of the ground. As you suggest, mining practices in other countries are an environmental disgrace. This hypocrisy is undeniable.

I would argue that the primary reason mining and manufacturing have been outsourced to the extent that they have is because we have demanded cheaper and cheaper consumer goods. Capitalism in other words. I would love to see these jobs come home I vote with my wallet consistently to make it happen. Mark expressed satisfaction with how this project advanced under the Obama administration and I do not fear what a bind administration will mean.
