The story is they wouldn't have been able to clone a cell to bring stability like Eurofins did 20 yrs later. As if cloning was unknown in 2000. Although it's unclear if Kenny has ever used the words "stable enzyme production" in a PR pump.
Nope they couldn't licensed this wonderful "technology"(LOL) from AN back in 2000 for $5M. Instead you have PMCB discovering this antiquated 20 yr treatment just laying around. Pumping $5M into AN for a license. Linked to a patent that would expire a few yrs later.
Then the story continues, rather than just rolling their own, where the amount of R&D expense to do so would be minimal, instead they would want to spend $Bs in an acquisition which will generate trivial revenue if ever approved as a palliative treatment. So what if it takes 400 yrs to recoup the acquisition expenses, and break even! Recouping ones acquisition expenses over a 400 yr time interval is a great business plan! LOL
