Great, go ahead and ask him. I'm sure all of us here would welcome that. But I think it's a far stretch to think Jack would ever say what he did just relying on what Rim told him, and not doing any homework of his own.
Please give one example of someone in the industry making a statement any time recently, about Rim that turned out to not be true.
