A grant should not matter. That's what grants are for. But a partnership is different. A company is going to want something in return if they are going to pony up money. Sometimes it's better to just dilute to raise cash rather than giving up some sort of rights to the drug. Those bigger pharma's are sharks. They will make you pay.
