What you say may be very true, but does it really matter. How many great companies currently have substantial debt. Tesla is perhaps the best example, they only recently had their first profitable quarters, I hate to even guess at how big they're current liabilities are. Has that mattered to investors, or have they invested and bid up the price because of how they view the potential.
Sure, I'd prefer the company to be making so much it has no debt, but I'd rather have it growing with debt than languishing without it.
