What would be the advantage/logic of that? It's going to come out at some point. What difference does it make if the hit were to happen on Wednesday or next Monday?

Several reasons.

PT constantly is selling stock in private placements. The higher the stock price, the easier it is to raise money. The latest begging letter from the company makes it clear they are again desperate for cash (guess the fantastic gold production ain't cutting it), so he will want to keep the stock price up as long as he can to make it easier to sell the appearance of fantastic profits off the cheap PP stock.

There is also the conversion of the outstanding toxic death spiral debt. The higher the price, the less shares the company has to issue. It might also make it easier to obtain new toxic loans, especially if there is a lot of buying volume they can dump into. They make more money the lower the stock price, but they need VOLUME, which they currently have.

The higher price also mollifies the shareholders and gives them hope things are improving. Delaying the release of bad news keeps them off his back.

There is also the question of him or family members or "close friends" selling stock. Obviously, the higher price makes it much more profitable for them.....

It's human nature to push off bad news. It is also better to release bad news after close of business on a Friday, so that investors can absorb the shock, be diverted by weekend activities and be in a more forgiving mood by Monday morning.

Plus, that gives PT a chance to issue another fluffy Monday morning PR to help investors "get over" not seeing any revenue, or seeing new toxic notes show up. Maybe talk about how that new "Volve" is working out.
