My example of salt and sugar would be correct only if converting to ppm by volume ie ul/l. They would be equal if converting to ppm by weight ie mg/l. Since 1 lb equals 1 pound. So as you can see concentrations can be expressed many different ways and are in fact very confusing.

Either that's way over my head or it doesn't make any sense. I'm hoping it's the latter but you sound pretty sure of yourself.
