Both you and I can name you several multi-billion dollar companies who had stellar reputations in their industry yet imploded due to fraud and bad management. Lets also not forget about the Wall Street analysts who were giving companies more than generous projections on shareprice so investors would put their money into them and they in turn also receive lucrative banking relationships. More recently many companies have been caught backdating options to give more favorable pricing to their executives, this constitutes as stealing from the shareholders.

At least if you're mugged, you only lose what is on you. Many people lost most of their retirement savings in those companies. Most people will have no problem recovering from a mugging, but never will get their money back from someone(s) committing fraud.

Well Beach, you had to know that you were investing in a high risk/high reward (or loss) company when you invested. Some of these companies are scams while others are not. Either way you shouldn't be shocked.

Still doesn't justify Ray's lying. And yes I was shocked because he was a friend of a good friend and was in my home a few times.

If you think that management is a bunch of crooks, then you didn't do enough research.

See above answer.

Execs need some compensation for their efforts otherwise they won't stay.

There is a difference between "some compensation" and a quarter of a million dollars plus bonuses of equal amounts for a company that hasn't made a dime in over 10 YEARS.

One way to tell the charachter of people (or a company) without knowing them, is to see what company they keep. Notice that there are many new relationships with reputable companies being formed.

Anyone who bases their investment strategy by what companies a lying company mentions in their PRs, is in for a rude awakening.

Knocking the company will not bring back any money that you have lost. If you're smart you will either leave and be healed of your anger, or climb on board and do what you can to promote the company.

Promote the company? You mean cheerlead so that other poor unfortunate souls get suckered in? Wow. How decent of you.

Investing is miles from being mugged or robbed. The difference is that people choose to invest, where they don't choose to be robbed or mugged.

I didn't choose to be lied to my face and surely didn't choose to watch dozens and dozens of PR's go by over a decade mentioning "strategic alliances," "mergers", and a host of other nonsense that never happened.

Please think about what I said.

Corinne

I surely don't need investment advice from you.
