Unfortunately people have been drinking sanitizer for a long time (those desperate looking for alcohol content.)
I know of examples where they had to replace the sanitizer (the kind with alcohol) with non alcohol sanitizer in correctional facilities because it was a problem.

Mostly it's either IPA or ETOH. Few MX brands were recalled recently due to MeOH. If consumed it's fatal. It happens all the time in third world countries....not knowing the difference between MeOH vs EtOH.

But seriously, canned heat (filtered sterno) was the death of some great bluesmen. Tommy Johnson comes to mind.
