That's my point. He doesn't get it right.
He jumps in head 1st and he doesn't know how deep the water is. Most people know better from watching others mistakes. Even those that have to learn from trying, usually learn after one or two times. Ed apparently does not learn. He just keeps making the same mistakes with minor variations over and over again.
As somebody told him on Twitter, nobody should miss self-imposed deadlines.
Ed has done that over and over again for years. With Ed, though, he doesn't just miss his own deadlines, most of the time, he never delivers anything.
