I thought the TDAmeritrade policy was that ACH transfers require up to days to buy an OTC, so I was using costly wire transfers. However, MY LAST TWO ACH TRANSFERS USING THE TDA DEPOSIT PAGE RESULTED IN BEING ABLE TO BUY CYDY, IMMEDIATELY. Here is the policy for ACH transfers initiated through TDA:

When will my deposit post to my account?
We immediately credit your account for deposits made before the cutoff time. You can then trade most securities.

When will my deposit clear?
A deposit may take up to four business days to clear after it posts to your account.

What restrictions exist?
Until your deposit clears, we restrict withdrawals and trading of some securities based on market risk. This includes but isn't limited to options and most stocks priced under $5 per share.

Depending on when the transfer was made, you should be able to trade once it’s in the account.

I wanted to urgently buy one time and called a rep. He was able to ensure the funds were going to clear and made the money available ASAP. If I recall, I called the bank on a three-way call so TD could confirm:

I don’t know when the system updates but I would look for “funds available for trading” in your balance section. If you don’t see it, call the rep before market open.

Best to ya!

CDYWinning, My mom had to wait 4 days for the funds to clear. TDA showed her money right away as available for trade, but apparently not if you want to trade OTC.
