#17572 RE: bigworld #17570

Bigworld, That's interesting the death rate is so low even in the face of the big upsurge in cases. That's reportedly happening in other parts of the country too, lots of new cases (partly due to increased testing) but fewer deaths.

The HIV related gene components that researchers have found 'spliced' into Covid, and the weird array of phenomena seen in patients, like blood clotting, makes this one scary virus. I wear a mask and go into stores when necessary, but figure that we'll all be exposed eventually. Staying well rested and keeping your immune system strong may be the best defense.

Yes, the markets continue in la-la land. I had my car in for service yesterday and two of the clerical workers were talking about the stocks they were following. I haven't seen that since the dot-com days, when practically everyone was yapping about their tech stocks. Back then I knew the market was nearing a peak when Barbra Streisand said she was speculating in the market.

Fwiw I'm looking at a condo next to mine for my dad when it comes up for sale. I'm responsible for managing his investments, but just don't feel comfortable putting too much into stocks. He's currently at 28% stocks and 18% in gold/silver related, and these and the bonds have been doing well, but the time has come to transition more into hard assets. I'm figuring 20% as the maximum in gold related (my own portfolio is 25%), so that leaves real estate, unless you can afford a Rembrandt or two..
