According to Charlie, they claim that it isn't theirs. They have started to use it because everyone else does. Is this the truth? Beats me.

Elmer, AMD has no processor or core named "K8L" on their roadmaps.

Elmer - AMD made it clear in an article a while back that they had nothing to do with the K8L moniker, that they'd only grudgingly responded to questions about it because the name had caught on like wildfire and it was easier than explaining what was really going on. I imagine they weren't prepared yet to tip their hand, either. So in answer to your question, yes.
