YES!!! That's it.

I don't like it when dividend and split are used interchangeably. Traditionally they are very different things.

With the dividend i am expecting my acct balance to go UP.

Perhaps the brokerage houses process it like a split in order to award the shares, but there should be no corresponding re-calculation in price -- as would happen in a TRUE split.
