#22880 RE: fantomphan #22874

This is NOT a prospective clinical trial as the article indicates. It is a new registry of CytoSorb in COVID-19 ICU Patients. It is structured similarly to the International Cytosorb Registry which is being managed by the University of Jena and has been going on since 2015 and has an enrollment target of 3000 patients.

https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02312024?term=cytosorb&draw=2&rank=2. The only difference is the company is managing this registry.

The company alluded to setting this up this new Covid-19 registry on the last conference call: "A major effort is underway to obtain clinical data at many centers, including randomized controlled trials, registry data, as well as the report of case reports in case series."

The authors of this article should to a better job at researching before they post something like this which is misleading. The study they are quoting was back from 2018 and focused on ECMO, not all Covid-19 patients are going to be on ECMO. Also "no other trial of its type has seen so many patients enrolled", well they must not have looked at the International Registry 'trial' mentioned above. But what can you expect from a site called "Instant Scientist".
