I like T now, but real estate "has a long way to go down". This is true of REIT's too.
Buyers of real estate are extremely limited now...so if you are a seller, you get a choice of picky buyers who want deep discounts. These deep discounts drive down appraisal prices and homeowners watch people "give their home back to the bank", then buy a better home for less, exaserbating the price declines.
This was very prevelant in the mid 80's.
Buffet sold his airlines, and I wouldnt touch REITS or real estate for a while. Unemployed people dont buy property very often.
