CG's assessment of the Webinar (from YMB):
Most of the clinical data is not new compared to previous presentations on this topic in the past 1-2 years. Dr. Geidel's presentation has been updated to include data from an additional 12 patients that were treated from June 2018 to June 2019, increasing the total in the CytoSorb group to 55 from 43 previously. The control group is still 11, likely because using CytoSorb for removal of ticagrelor and rivaroxaban has been SOC at his hospital for quite some time now. With the 12 extra patients, the clinical data in the CytoSorb group actually got slightly worse than before. For example, there's now 1 re-thoracotomy in the CytoSorb group versus 0 previously; however, in comparison to the control group, the overall re-thoracotomy rate is still below 2%, which is quite low and still statistically significant. Most of the other interesting clinical outcomes are still statistically significant in favor of the CytoSorb group. The larger multi-center trial at his hospital and 3 others is still waiting for approvals to start, but he did not give the impression that it had been canceled or deferred because of COVID-19, which is positive. The data that is newer in Dr. Geidel's presentation relates to the economic and cost-saving benefits for hospitals. Specifically, Dr. Geidel's group did an economic analysis that shows the CytoSorb group saved over 3K EUR per patient including the cost of CytoSorb, and the biggest factors contributing to the cost savings are the reduced operating time, re-thoracotomy rate, and ICU / hospital stay. The second presentation from CTSO's employee reinforced Dr. Geidel's economic and cost-savings analysis with a similar conclusion for Germany along with some numbers for Poland. All of the economic numbers presented today were in line with the previous analysis performed in the UK. Overall, it's still quite a positive presentation, but it does not really present new information if you've been following along for this CytoSorb indication for a while.
