The drug helps the body cure itself of the virus. It doesn't have direct antiviral action, but it corrects the severe immune deficiency of low CD4 and CD8 T-cells. When these T-cells increase after leronlimab treatment, they help to get rid of all the infected cells before they create more virus. So, in some ways it is a cure - if it continues to show good results on the immune system (restoring immune system to be able to clear the virus, and also alleviating the hyperactive immune system response / cytokine storm that is responsible for killing people).
