Important point that many here seem to miss.

Before any vaccine can be used widely, it must go through phases of testing to make sure that it’s effective against the virus and that it doesn’t cause other problems. Phase I usually involves fewer than 100 people. That number goes up to several hundred for phase II and thousands in phase III. Then, scientists with the FDA and CDC review the data from these trials and sign off.
