It just looks like they're having database connectivity issues.

That's not completely true: Yes, the webserver can't connect to the SQL database, but the message also says the corresponding error page can't be displayed. That means
a) someone did despicable things to the webserver by mistake, or
b) someone chose the easiest way to intentionally delete the website.

I really assume it's (b) because of Mr. Kempers announcement of news.

But shouldn't we get some more news?
