Abbott's testing device is designed to be only available for medical professionals, and I don't think their device tests for antibodies to see if someone had the coronavirus. This test kit by ThermoGenesis will be selling for $30 each and available for sale to the general public as well as health professionals and can test people both symptomatic with the illness and detect the COVID-19 antibodies in people who have recovered from the illness. So I would imagine 100s of millions could be distributed and sold to the general public. Everyone will want to get tested if they can buy the test at their local store. There will definitely be a huge market for it. But the more the merrier to help contain this virus. It's good that Abbott is doing what they are doing too. Here's a local news report from Fox40 Sacramento in my area (see link)... The company is located in Ranch Cordova, which is only 20 minutes from where I live. :-) https://fox40.com/news/local-news/rancho-cordova-company-develops-blood-test-to-detect-covid-19-in-minutes/
