I agree, this should be worth waiting for. We need to have a little patience however, since poor w2p has sorta stepped in it this time.

You see, up until a month ago.....he would have been right. In fact I would have agreed with him and would never have made the statements he is arguing with.

What we have here is the 'perfect storm'. I made, what he considers, a couple of outrageous claims and he bit, hook line and sinker......knowing he could make his case. What he obviously didn't know, was that the world has just changed. As little as two weeks ago, an article in 'Nature' turned the scientific world on its head. Forcing it to question assumptions that go back to Watson and Crick and even in some cases as far as Mendel.

How w2p responds is going to be interesting. He can fire back with both barrels referencing 'old' stuff, or he can do a little google search and find out that he is dead in the water. In which case he can apologize (don't hold your breath) or look for another way out.

Here are the obvious alternatives;

A. Blast back with 'old' references.

B. Recognize that the world has changed and back down. (Not likely)

C. Argue with the new findings. (Even he isn't that dumb.)

D. Abandon the core discussion and try to argue some obscure turn of phrase or wording.

E. Don't respond at all.

Personally, I'm hoping for A or C, that way we can feed him his lunch. Odds are, however, that we will see D or E.

In either case, it should take some time to put together the response and the odds favor an attempt to end it with a loud exclamation of victory and an indication that it his last word on the subject.....Let's wait and see.
