Obviously no significant institutional investors are in pinks like this. There is shorting from time to time everywhere but it’s not nearly as widespread as it is here and what you think is shorting is MM book keeping.

The MM are shorting huge size in a pink sheet were the majority of shares are not tradable.
People who have the capacity to short or naked short aren’t spending their time trying to short 2 million shares of CAVR to make trivial dollars the bid offer spreads are too wide to effectively achieve that.
