I'm an engineering prof with a related background and a critical mind (ODU- Old Dominion University); I once was interviewed by University of Queensland by the way! Tautachrome's decision to trumpet open-source machine learning struck me as incongruous at first, as if upper management were looking to prop up the share price with a string of buzzwords, since at first glance deep learning does not have much to do with visualization (inverse and forward problems respectively). However, I can admit that I may have underestimated their collective ability to connect the dots, if it turns out that there is an architectural advantage to Arknet for processing networked sensors, especially if smartphones increasingly imbed range-sensing capabilities as well as projective functionalities.
If that advantage avails itself to be true, watch out! They could leverage Arknet to manage autonomous navigation on highways, not just recognize the faces of pedestrian traffic.
