It would be unusual for a Senior VP of R&D In a company as small as Titan with a focus on one product, to begin a public job search while an acquisition is in the works.
I would think he’d have an opportunity with the acquirer being he lived and breathed the development of SPORT for years....
But nothing here makes sense so who the hell knows!

IF they were going it alone, I would agree they would need that position BUT they are not going it alone, hence being open to new oppty's
